Isn’t it interesting how political analogies are often sports-related? Winning and losing. Players. Fighting for your team. And, of course, strategy and motivation play their parts. (Even the word ‘play’ in that sentence.)
How important is America to you? Some people - politicians - fight figuratively, and some - military - fight literally. The weapons we citizens have are our voices and our votes. Maybe a defective weapon is like an uninformed vote. You don’t know what the heck it’s going to do.
We citizens are active players in the ongoing battle to keep America a Constitutional Republic. Participate (Join a team if you want to get off the bench), be informed (You don’t have to learn the whole playbook; voter guides are great), and go for the goal (vote)!
Ours is a representative government. Our representatives in Congress, whether state or federal, are elected to vote as we, their constituents, want.
Find your representative at the U.S. House website, then explore his or her website and social media accounts to see whether the issues on which your representative spends time are the ones you think are most important.
Being informed is your best weapon. Use your vote wisely.
A few updates
- DOJ paying $1.5M for 'transgender programming curriculum' in prisons. Fox and Townhall have reported, but as of this morning, it’s not posted on the Department of Justice website.
- ‘Build Back Better’, or not - Senator Schumer is attempting to revive Biden’s multi-trillion plan, which has stalled multiple times within the Democratic conference. West Virginia’s Joe Manchin has balked over the price, but is working with Schumer to try and pass a narrower - but still costly - version of the bill. Important: Schumer does not need any GOP support to pass this bill. Using a process called “reconciliation”, the bill only needs simple-majority support, and is not subject to the filibuster. If Schumer and all the Senate Democrats come to an agreement, Republicans will have no way of stopping it. For background information, click here.
- Following the Constitution, the Supreme Court recently ruled to return abortion laws to the states. For 49 years Roe v Wade was the law. Now, days later, a presidential Executive Order - one man - seeks to undo those 49 years of using the law to make changes. The Executive Order is not yet published on the Federal Register. Hm, not sure that’s how it’s supposed to work. Is that in the playbook? Is there a penalty?
- The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that the Biden administration cannot ignore Federal law and must remove illegal alien criminals. The Hill has good information in this article.
- Texas Governor Abbot ordered the Texas national guard and state police to detain aliens who illegally entered the country, and to return them to the border. Click here for some analysis.
- Wonder what the IRS need weapons and ammo for - Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) introduced a bill in the House to bar the Internal Revenue Service from acquiring ammunition. According to a 2018 Government Accountability Office report (the most recent published), the IRS has been stockpiling ammunition and weapons for years. As of 2018, the agency had 4,487 firearms and 5,062,006 rounds of ammunition in its inventory, the report said.
- A win for parents and school children - Supreme Court says Maine cannot exclude religious schools from state tuition assistance programs.
- And another win for parents and school children, this one in Arizona. On Thursday, Governor Doug Ducey signed HB 2853 into law creating the country’s leading school choice program. More states are expected to follow Arizona’s lead. This funding is applicable to public, private, religious and charter schools.
- Chinese impersonated Texans to sabotage critical US rare earth minerals plant.
- Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled Friday that absentee ballot drop boxes may be placed only in election offices and that no one other than the voter can return a ballot in person
National Debt Clock - You’ve probably heard of this. Don’t look if you have a weak stomach or heart. It looks like it’s increasing about $1,000,000 (yes, million) every 23 seconds?!
Rasmussen Poll - 'Founding Fathers would be disappointed'. We can change that!
